Growing up, my dreams were simple. I wanted to go to college, get a degree and have a successful career. But life had other plans for me, and my family's financial situation put that dream out of reach. The realization that I would not be able to attend college was a tough pill to swallow. I struggled for a while, not knowing what to do next. But eventually, I discovered a new path - dragon slaying.
The Start of My Dragon Hunting Career
It started as a joke when my friends and I were chatting one day. We were all in the same boat, unable to afford college but wanting a way to make something of ourselves. One of them made a cheeky comment about how we might as well go hunt dragons instead, and something clicked.
We started researching and practicing, buying weapons and training in combat. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't cheap, but it was something to strive towards. We soon became known in our town as the dragon slaying crew. People would hire us to take care of dragons that were causing problems, and we started making money that way. It wasn't much, but it was something.
The Life of a Dragon Hunter
My life as a dragon hunter is not glamorous. It's dangerous, dirty and sometimes downright terrifying. There have been times when I've come close to death, and there have been times when I've had to make tough decisions about the dragons I encounter. But I've learned to love it. There's a thrill that comes with facing off against a creature that could easily kill you.
And then there's the money. It's not a lot, but it's enough to support myself, and sometimes my family as well. It's enough to pay rent, buy food and afford the equipment I need to continue with my dragon hunting.
A Different Kind of Success
I may not have a degree, but I have found a different kind of success. I'm respected in my town for what I do, and I've been able to forge my own path in life. I've learned skills that I never would have learned if I had gone to college, and I've experienced things that most people can only dream of.
Looking back, if I had the option to go to college, I'm not sure if I would. The life of a dragon hunter isn't for everyone, but for me, it's the only way. I may not have a degree, but I have something just as valuable - a sense of purpose and fulfillment that I never thought was possible.
So if you're feeling stuck, like I was, don't be afraid to look for another path. It may not be what you originally had in mind, but sometimes, that's what leads to the greatest success. Who knows, you might just find yourself slaying dragons for a living.
